Fall 2015 Couture – Chanel

Definitely not Karl Lagerfeld’s strongest collection to date. I just want to get that out of my system before I talk about his clothes. Karl Lagerfeld took everyone into his dream casino for Chanel’s latest haute couture collection. And of course since its Karl’s dream, stars like Rinko Kikuchi, Kristen Stewart and Julian Moore overflowed the gambling tables in their custom frocks. Resort 2016 – Chanel

Resort collections are the most important part of my fashion calendar. Not because they have a longer shelf life in boutiques which generate more income for the fashion houses but due to its light weight and easy to wear usually colorful fabrics. Being born in a tropical country, these clothes speak to me. Lately, luxury fashion houses have been making it a major production outside the normal bi-annual collections held in New York, Paris and Milan. They have been using this opportunity to connect with the cities where there is a high market for their clothes and accessories.

2015 OSCAR’s Best and Worst Dressed

The Academy Awards was just concluded last night and boy it was a memorable one. From Patricia Arquette’s equality speech to Lady Gaga’s ultimate reinvention. It will go down in history as one of the most hair raising and heart tugging editions. Also it would be remembered as the one who snubbed Joan Rivers out of their “in memoriam” part. I just don’t understand how they can leave the one who made the red carpet famous and elevated it to its most elegant time ever but this is not the space to dwell on that. Also I think Neil Patrick Harris did a good first time Oscar hosting job and if I have a body like that, I would not mind wearing only my underwear all the time. Continue reading
